Hello! My name is Anja; also known as Anda, tiny owl, and the earless owl. I love photography, yarn, animals, anime, manga, studying new languages, nintendo ds, ragnarok online, and colored pencils.

I also like traditional art, simple designs, and sketches. I have a tendency to draw and write things small. (I don't think I'm capable of writing big; it's too awkward!) It's what really influences my style: simple shapes and lines. Most of my amigurumi are under 5" tall.

Ever since I was little, I always wanted to create plushies of my own. But they never came out right because I wasn't very good at sewing, taking measurements, and cutting out the right shapes in order to make the pieces 3D.

In 2007, I came across amigurumi (crocheted and knitted toys) on a craft forum. The process of creating them seemed interesting and fun so I thought I'd try making plushies that way.

For over a year, I experimented, didn't use patterns and I rarely finished any plushies (sometimes due to the dread of sewing). But I also took many breaks in which I made other things such as hats and cardigans.

In April 2009, I decided to open an Etsy shop.

I named it "tinyowlknits" because of my love for tiny plushies, owls, and knitting.

I originally wanted to make many different owls but I was never happy with any that I made-- except the crocheted pink one. It's one of my few design that I didn't sketch out first. I just started crocheting and figured out things as I went along.
